Bus Transportation

A CCSU bus will provide round-trip transportation for faculty and staff. The bus will leave from the front of the Student Center. Though faculty will be welcomed and encouraged to attend both ceremonies, a bus will return to campus following the conclusion of the morning ceremony for those unable to stay for the entire day. The bus will then make a second run to XL Center for those participating in the afternoon ceremony.

*For faculty and staff participating in both ceremonies, lunch will be provided for you at the XL Center’s Coliseum Club.

Parking

Public parking garages and lots adjacent to the XL Center will be open for parking at the driver’s expense. Additional Hartford Police will be on duty downtown to provide safety and traffic control assistance.

ADA Information

It is important that graduating students with physical disabilities, who plan to attend commencement, contact the Office of Student Activities & Leadership Development at (860) 832-1990 as soon as possible.

Guests with physical disabilities may identify themselves to an XL Center usher for assistance. Please note that the XL Center does not have wheelchairs available.

Guests who use mobility devices (such as but not limited to wheel chairs, either manually operated or power driven, walkers etc.) will find seating at the tops of sections 101, 106, 107, 112, 113, 118, 119, and 124 to view these sections on a map please click here. The seats in these sections can easily be removed or adjusted if needed by one of our Guest Services staff and will leave enough space for guests to sit with or remain in their mobility devices.

A sign language interpreter will be present at the ceremony. For TTY Hearing Impaired reservations, please call (860) 549-7706.

Protocol and Security Procedures

Doors to the XL Center will open at 8 a.m.

All guests and graduates must enter through the Trumbull Street entrance and will then pass through security screening before entering the Coliseum.

Faculty and commencing students should NOT robe until after they have passed through security; those in robes will be asked to remove them before proceeding through security.

No backpacks or large handbags will be allowed into the Center; some handbags may be searched.

For graduating students, there is no secure place to store personal belongings at the XL Center. Please arrange for family members or friends to hold your personal items during the ceremony.

Possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in the XL Center is strictly prohibited. Alcohol containers will be confiscated. Individuals violating this policy will be denied admission to the commencement ceremony.

The XL Center reserves the right to remove any guest or participant for inappropriate behavior.

Please respect all graduates and their guests - silence all electronic devices and remain seated until the ceremony concludes.
