Family & Friends

All guests must enter the XL Center through the Trumbull Street entrance.
9 a.m. Ceremony
        Doors will open at 8 a.m. 

3 p.m. Ceremony
        Doors will open at 2 p.m.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • No tickets are required for admittance
  • There is no limit to the number of guests per graduate
  • There is no assigned seating
  • Ample seating is expected, but the best seats go first
  • Ushers will be available to assist with seating
  • All guests will be required to pass through security screening
  • No backpacks or large handbags will be allowed into the Center; some handbags may be searched

For the December 2018 Commencement Ceremony, free parking will be available in all CCSU garages and surface lots.
The most convenient parking near Welte Auditorium includes:
Welte Garage (entrances are from Stanley Street and from Ella Grasso Boulevard)
Welte Lot (surface lot accessible from Ella Grasso Boulevard)
Student Center Garage (enter from Student Center Circle off of Ella Grasso Boulevard)

To avoid traffic, consider parking in the garages located off of Manafort Drive.
Vance Garage (4 min. walk to Welte Auditorium)
Copernicus Garage (6 min. walk to Welte Auditorium)


ADA Information

It is important that graduating students with physical disabilities, who plan to attend commencement, contact the Office of Student Activities & Leadership Development at (860) 832-1990 as soon as possible.

Guests with physical disabilities may identify themselves to the Event Management staff at Welte Auditorium for assistance.

A sign language interpreter will be present at the ceremony.

Protocol and Security Procedures

Doors to Welte Auditorium and the Student Center will open at noon on Sunday, December 16.

For graduating students, there is no secure place to store personal belongings. Please arrange for family members or friends to hold your personal items during the ceremony.

Possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages on campus is strictly prohibited. Alcohol containers will be confiscated. Individuals violating this policy will be denied admission to the commencement ceremony.

CCSU reserves the right to remove any guest or participant for inappropriate behavior.
