Students visit United Nations

Published: May 08, 2018

Political Science professor Dr. Ghassan El-Eid brought a group of CCSU students to a meeting on April 13 at the United Nations headquarters in New York City. The group met with Mattias Sundholm, who is a member of the Counter Terrorism Executive Directorate Committee, which reports directly to the Security Council of the United Nations. Discussions focused on the United Nations’ efforts to combat terrorism and to coordinate member states’ efforts in that regard, while strengthening the role of the United Nations in dealing with related problems.

The meeting served as a real-life demonstration in the practical aspects of international relations and the responsibilities of the United Nations in global affairs.
