Central’s BS in Computer Science program prepares students for successful careers in the software industry. Students earn a broad range of critical skills in software development, computer security, networking, databases, artificial intelligence, and many more. This alternative to Computer Science- Honors was designed as a fast path to the degree for transfer students and students that change majors after they begin their academic career.

Pairing a Computer Science BS with a complimentary minor bolsters a graduate’s opportunities for job placement and advancement.

Students acquire deep technical, computer science skills and work with their advisor to select courses that can set the stage for graduate study or employment in any technical or professional area.

Central graduates with a BS in Computer Science launch successful careers with the following titles Software Developer, Web Developer, Software Engineer, Database Administrator, Security Analyst, Data Scientist, and more.
Frequently, graduates leave campus with employment offers from leading companies including The Hartford, Aetna, United Technologies, Cigna, and Travelers.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Graduates will apply a broad understanding of the fundamental theories, concepts, and applications of computer science in their career.
    1. (ABET SO-1) Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
    2. (ABET SO-2) Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
