Alumni, friends honored for outstanding service

CCSU alumni elected two new slates of directors to the Alumni Association board, and the board announced the winners of the 2019 alumni awards during the Association's annual meeting and reception on June 6.

Alumni elected to serve a two-year term beginning July 1 are: Duane Hinkson ’99; Michael Maiscalco ’05, MBA ’08; Janet Miani MS ’06; Donna Vickers ’80; and Kamil Wojnowski ’14.

Dr. Zulma R. Toro thanked the award winners for serving as role models to CCSU’s current students.

“Through the leadership and support you graciously provide, we are sending a clear signal to our students that we want them to succeed,” Toro said. “There is power in this level of collaboration, and I know it will continue to have a significant impact on our students, state, and economy.”

Alumni elected to serve a three-year term beginning July 1 are: Brien Balavender ’77; Kimberly Barrington ’14, MS ’17; Robert Brancato ’85; William Mackey ’72; and Christine Sullivan ’73, MS ’79.

This year’s alumni award honorees are Dr. Peter M. Rosa ’69, MS ’74, Distinguished Alumni Award; Kassondra Mangione ’14, Young Alumni Award; William C. Fothergill ’89, Community Service Award; and Dr. Gilbert L. Gigliotti, professor of English at CCSU, Friend of the University Award.
