Prior joining academia, Dr. Emiliani worked in industry for 15 years and had management responsibility in engineering (R&D, new product development) and operations (manufacturing and supply chain). He was responsible for implementing Lean principles and practices in both manufacturing ($5M business unit) and supply chains ($110M business unit) at Pratt & Whitney.
He is internationally recognized for his work in Lean management and his ground-breaking work on Lean leadership. He is a long-time TPS/Lean practitioner (trained by Shingijutsu) and was the first to focus on Lean leadership as an area of scholarly study.
