Dr. Laura Thompson Jacobson is an assistant professor of Special Education. She teaches graduate methods courses that focus on the implementation of evidence-based practices in teaching students with special needs, and acts as a University Supervisor for student teachers. Prior to joining CCSU, she worked at Prince George's Community College, as an associate professor of Special Education, and as a special educator in high schools in Maryland and Massachusetts. Dr. Jacobson's research interests focus on effective teacher preparation in the areas of writing and math, as well as writing instruction for high school students with high-incidence disabilities. 

She holds a Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Nebraska and a M.S. and B.S. in Special Education from Simmons College.
