Dr. Peter F. Troiano was appointed Interim Vice President for Student Affairs in July 2017. He is responsible for the leadership and direction of the Division of Student Affairs, which includes the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, Student Disability Services, Veterans Affairs, Student Wellness Services/Counseling and Health Services, Residence Life, Student Activities & Leadership Development, Student Center Operations, Student Conduct, RECentral and Orientation programs. In this role, Dr. Troiano is committed to enhancing student success and promoting student engagement, both inside and outside the classroom.
Prior to accepting the position of Interim Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Troiano served CCSU as Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the Student Development in Higher Education master’s program within the Department of Counselor Education and Family Therapy and as Program Coordinator of the Higher Education strand of the doctoral program in Educational Leadership.
Dr. Troiano is a seasoned higher education professional with over 30 years of professional experience in college and university administration. The institutions with which he has been affiliated have ranged in size and scope, from small, private, liberal-arts institutions to large, state-supported research universities. He previously served as Vice President for Student and University Affairs and as Assistant Vice President/Dean of Students at Southern Connecticut State University and as Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Mitchell College. In all of these roles, Dr. Troiano has challenged himself to think creatively and to act consistently, driving the institution toward its mission while respecting the individual rights of its students.
Dr. Troiano earned a BS in Finance from Providence College and holds advanced degrees in College Student Personnel Administration from Bowling Green State University (MA) and the University of Maryland, College Park (PhD).
