Duo Security Two-Factor Authentication
Computer attacks are increasing in sophistication. Passwords alone have proven to be ineffective in stopping these attacks on information resources. Two-factor authentication decreases the risk of compromises and data breaches by requiring two factors to confirm your identity - something you know, like your password, and something you have, like your mobile phone or landline. This is now common for online banking. If you ever received a code via text, you have used two-factor authorization.
CCSU is now using a two-factor authentication program called Duo Security to access systems that contain secure information, such as Banner INB, Hyperion Reporting, and custom applications. The new secure Citrix environment is called the Secure Enclave. Prior to using the Secure Enclave, you will receive an email message with instructions for setting up your account for Duo Security.
Click on the link below for instructions on how to add a device and choose an authenication method.
How to Access:
Once you have set up your account for Duo Security, you can log into the secure apps web site, https://secureapps.ccsu.edu, with your Bluenet username and password. On your first log in to the site, you will be asked to select the Duo Security Authentication method you would like to use. There are three methods to choose from:
1) Sending a push to the Duo Moblie app on your smartphone that you acknowledge to confirm your identity.
2) Entering a passcode that you requested via the Duo Authentication prompt, or that you generated on your Duo Mobile app.
3) Responding to a phone call that was sent to your mobile phone or landline.
If you choose to use your mobile phone for authentication, you will need to install the Duo Mobile app on it.
How to Request:
To request access to the Secure Enclave, contact the IT Help Desk at 860-832-1720.
