Grad student earns Connecticut Counseling Association award

Julianna Vass, who was named Graduate Student of the Year by the Connecticut Counseling Association (CCA). The award recognizes outstanding scholarship by a CCA student member.

In addition to her academic excellence in the classroom and service to the CCSU Department of Counselor Education & Family Therapy, Vass has pursued research at the master’s level. A sensitive subject that can be difficult to navigate, Vass researched the sexual trafficking of children and adolescents. Outcomes of her involvement in this research included active participation in conference presentations, including the national Association of Child and Adolescent Counseling conference and the CCA and Connecticut School Counseling Association conferences.

Vass also serves as the Central representative to the Connecticut Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (CACES) and editor of the CACES newsletter. Vass also created an award-winning poster presentation for CACES.
