Program Description

Prepares students for careers in communications and related fields (advertising, community relations, public affairs, customer service, non-profit communications, media relations, and more). Learn to apply research methods (surveys, focus groups, ethnography), diagnose communications problems and create communication campaigns. Intercultural communications strategies emphasized.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Explain communication processes, internal and external, of an organization
  2. Write appropriately in both academic and professional settings
  3. Employ research methods in the diagnosis of communication problems within organizations and between organizations and their target audiences, including those resulting from intercultural differences
  4. Examine the use and impact of information, communication, and new media technologies in the design and evaluation of public relations, strategic communication campaigns, and other organizational applications
