Program Curriculum

Under the supervision and mentorship of our extraordinary and diverse faculty, students will experience the canon of American modern dance, learning to understand and respect the lineage while embracing the future of contemporary forms.

Two specializations are offered– Specialization A is for those students who are looking to pursue a business-based dance career. Specialization B is for those students looking to focus on teacher education in public and/or private schools, however, this degree does not lead to teacher certification. 

A minor is not required with this major.

Core Requirements

This 76-credit program consists of 18 credits in core lecture, 42 credits in core skills classes, and 34 credits in either the teacher education specialization or entrepreneurship in dance specialization.

Core Skill Courses

DAN 200 is taken twice for a total of two credits.

DAN 257 is taken twice for a total of two credits.

Specialization in Entrepreneurship in Dance

Specialization includes 11 credits of required courses, plus 6 credits of business electives, and 17 credits of electives approved by a faculty advisor. 

Business electives must be chosen from the list.

Choose 6 credits from the following along with an additional 16 credits of specialization electives, selected in consultation with a faculty advisor.
