New Support Group for First-Year & Transfer Students

A new psycho-educational support group for first-year and transfer students will be offered in the upcoming Spring semester. The group is facilitated by Counseling and Student Development Center along with Wellness Education. Central’s Declassified New Student Survival Guide is designed to support new students with their transition to the university. Topics of discussion will include but are not limited to:

  • Academics and campus resources

  • Goal development

  • Self-esteem and identity

  • Mental and physical wellness

  • Risk factors

  • Relationships and support systems

  • Role models and mentors

Receiving support in a group allows students the opportunity to understand their struggles, see they are not alone, and find hope and guidance within the group. This group will provide a positive, supportive, confidential, and educational environment for new students, creating a sense of hope and encouragement for a successful college experience. The group will run during the Spring semester and will run weekly every Wednesday from 1:00pm – 2:30pm in the Student Wellness Center in Willard-DiLoreto Hall, Room 101-02.
