New Staff as of 2019

Program Assistant – RECentral on 1/2/19

Ms. Cassie Bishop joined CCSU on January 2, 2019 with extensive experience in both Club Sports and Intramural Sports by working at both Quinnipiac and Cleveland State University since 2014.  Ms. Bishop has been a great asset, especially during the opening of the new Rec Center.

Vice President on 1/22/19

Dr. Michael Jasek, Vice President for Student Affairs at CCSU, previously worked at New Mexico State University as the Dean of Students, as well as the Chief Judicial Officer since 2012.  Prior to working in New Mexico, Dr. Jasek worked at the University of West Florida for eight years, most recently, as the Associate Dean of Students.  With his twenty-three years of experience in Higher Education, Dr. Jasek’s knowledge and previous positions have made him an amazing Vice President during his first year at CCSU.

Veteran Retention Assistant on 3/5/19

Ms. Melina Lopez was appointed Veteran Retention Assistant on March 5, 2019.  Ms. Lopez had previously worked in the Bursar’s Office since 2009 and before that, in the Office of Continuing Education since 1997. We are happy to have you.

Assistant Counselor on 4/12/19

Ms. Jessica Ofray comes to CCSU from Walden Behavioral Care in South Windsor where she was the Lead Clinician since 2014. Ms. Ofray is a licensed professional counselor who is now assisting our students with individual or group meetings. CCSU is lucky to have you.

 

Assistant Director on 7/8/19

Ms. Sarah Horrax has returned to CCSU.  From 2010 – 2014, Ms. Horrax worked in the Student Center and in Student Activities at CCSU.  Since 2014, she worked in New York at the Fordham University as the Assistant Director for Leadership & Commuter Student Services and then as the Director of Student Formation.  She then worked in New Haven as the Assistant Director of Graduate Student Services. Welcome back Sarah!

Assistant to the Director/Hall Director on 8/2/19

Mr. Nicholas Sherrod previously worked at the University of New Haven as a Graduate Resident Director and most recently as the Branding/Marketing Resident Director to bring more student focus to the Office of Residential Life.  Mr. Sherrod has also held the position of Residential Assistant (RA) at CCSU for three years.  Glad to have you back. You can find Nicholas working with our students in Sam May.

Assistant to the Director/Hall Director on 8/16/19

Ms. Aaliyah Anderson worked for three years as a Resident Assistant and then as a Senior Resident Assistant at CCSU until May 2017.  She also worked in Admissions as a Graduate Assistant for a year until May 2019, and now has returned to Residence Life as an Assistant to the Director/Hall Director in Beecher Hall.  Aaliyah has volunteered in the Food Pantry and is also a member of the Circle of Care team, helping students in need.  Thank you for all that you do at CCSU.

Assistant to the Director/Hall Director on 8/16/19

Mr. Alexander Antaya worked at WCSU for three years as a Resident Assistant, then as a Senior Community Advisor for a year. Alex works as an Assistant to the Director/Hall Director in North Hall with first year students.  Alex is on the Media Board and is also a professional saxophone player.   We’re glad to have you here at CCSU.

Director of Student Conduct on 8/30/19

Ms. Stephanie Reis was appointed Director of Student Conduct on August 30, 2019.  Ms. Reis has worked at CCSU since 2007, beginning her Higher Education career in Residence Life.   She worked in Residence Life for three years, then as Assistant Director of Student Conduct since 2013.  Her valuable experience and knowledge has already served her well with investigations and conduct issues as the new director.

Director of Counseling & Student Development on 9/9/19

Dr. Michael Russo, the new Director of Counseling & Student Development, is also supervising Student Health Services.  Dr. Russo previously worked at Wheeler Clinic in Plainville, leaving his position of Vice President of Education, Evaluation & Early Childhood Services for CCSU.  Beginning his career as a Psychotherapist in 1998, Dr. Russo has so much knowledge and experience, which he is now providing to CCSU.
