Seniors take all in RC car competition

Published:

On October 26, Mechanical Engineering seniors Andre Roumer, Julian Tarlowski-Parady, Kevin Rheaume, and Ridwane Ouro Bode competed in the RC Car Design and Race Competition sponsored by the Society of Plastics Engineers – Thermoforming Division at their national conference. The team emerged victorious after battling it out against teams from Georgia Tech, Purdue, and Kettering University, winning both the race itself and tying for the Best Design award with each other. Working with Professor Ned Moore in two teams, they each reverse-engineered the chassis, designed a new shell, performed a high deflection nonlinear FEA of the forming process, machined the tools, and formed the parts.
