Lecture: Revitalization, Maintenance, and Linguistic Development Project

March 19, 2024
4:30 PM - 6:30 PM

This project emphasizes rejuvenating Indigenous languages in Mexico (and beyond) through community-centered methods and modern media. It promotes Indigenous language through user-generated content, aiming to bridge traditional culture with modern consumer habits.

Workshops encourage organic language use, prioritizing engagement over correction, reflecting a significant shift towards participatory and inclusive linguistic practices with broader academic implications. Guest speaker Dr. Flores Farfán will discuss the applicability of the tools to the Connecticut context, including what this means for documenting literacy practices in collaboration with local communities.

A reception and book fair will follow the lecture. This lecture and other events are open to everyone.
