Central Connecticut State University welcomes students of all abilities, interests, and backgrounds. Successful applicants demonstrate strong academic rigor while actively participating in extracurricular activities and community service projects.
Applicants must be graduates of an accredited high or preparatory school or hold an equivalency diploma.
To be considered for admission, first-year applicants must submit the following:
- Completed online application
- $50 application fee or fee waiver
- Official high school transcript

An admissions counselor will review your completed application and send a decision letter within approximately two weeks.
Deadlines
CCSU accepts applications on a rolling admissions basis. The preferred application deadlines for first-year students are May 1 for the fall semester and December 1 for the spring semester.
International students should apply by April 1 for the fall semester and November 1 for the spring semester.
The University reserves the right to stop processing applications once our class accommodations have been met.
Admission Guidelines
Admissions counselors look at several aspects of your high school performance when reviewing applications including grades, coursework and SAT/ACT score (optional). While interviews are not required, Admissions staff may seek interviews with certain applicants to get additional information or clarify details on application materials.
Candidates offered admission have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and a class rank in the top 50 percent of the graduating class.
We also recommend that students complete the following high-school coursework:
- Four years of English
- Three years of Math (typically Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II)
- Three years of Social Science (including U.S. History)
- Two years of Science (including one Lab Science)
- Three years of a single foreign language (Students who completed up to the third level of a language are exempt from taking a foreign language at CCSU)
Note:Â Additional coursework is required for specific majors in the schools of Business, Education & Professional Studies, and Engineering, Science, & Technology. Please see program requirements on each school's website.
